This is our goofy pup, Maverick (taken three years ago at our wedding 7/26/13). He’s a Great Dane and five years old now. I know there has been a lot of talk recently about what kind of dogs are good dogs for first time owners. I grew up with dogs, but my husband did not. Mav is our first (and only, so far) dog together, but we were incredibly lucky when it came to first timers. We got Mav when he was one year old and already very trained. I love the breed so much, but I’m still concerned about how much work it would be to get a Great Dane as an untrained puppy. Either way, a well-trained Great Dane (something Mav is still working on, haha!), is one that is all heart and love and gentleness. I wouldn’t trade this cuddly, sweet guy for any other!
