That’s a good question. I would check first with your state and city to see what their laws are. Then check with your landlord, if you rent, and/or your insurance company if you own a home. Make sure you provide consistent training and socialization, and be prepared to defend your breed while also being educated yourself. I would even look into the Canine Good Citizen program so your pup sets a good example for the breed. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch, and the last thing the breed needs is anymore bad apples!
Seeing as there are various bans still undergoing over BullDog/Pit types, or Bully looking breeds, would you think it’s okay to adopt one either way? I was originally planning on adopting an American Pitbull Terrier from the shelter, but with a bad rep on them I wasn’t sure if he’d potentially be euthanized / killed because he’s apparently ‘scary looking’ and could maul someone; even though any breed could do that if they’re not treated properly with care.
