Hi! I just got my first puppy, a golden retriever. He’s awesome but my cat hates him! Beau was raised with the breeder’s cats and he doesn’t chase or bother them. My female cat, Lola gets along with him fine and even snuggles up with him but Chico will attack him if he even sees him. Beau won’t even know Chico is there so he’s not instigating. I’ve gotten the heck scratched out of my legs getting in between this. I know you’re a dog blog but do you have any advice/resources that might help? Thx!

Do you have any advise at all on getting a dog to stop licking? Mine has allergies, and he’s been on medication for a while now, but he just. Won’t. Stop! He chews and licks his paws until they’re red, and we find it hard to put anything nasty on them to deter him, it just agitates him more. He’s had cancer, so vets are reluctant to give him another type of medication

going on that last ask about working vs show lines, is it worth getting a working line dog if you want to get into dog sports, like tracking, field work, nose work, agility etc. but not actually "work" the dog as part of every day life?

I think this will vary based on the lineage, honestly. Some working dogs are way, way too intense to not work every single day (I’m thinking Czech GSD for example). I think your best bet would be to straight-up ask…
