Murphy, the Transylvanian Hound.
I know, that not so many people familiar with this breed, so let me introduce the Transylvanian Hounds (or erdélyi kopó in Hungarian). This is an anciant Hungarian breed, used for hunting (mostly for wild boars and for even bears). They are mid-sized dogs, their minimum weight is 25 kg (55 lb) and they are primarily black with tan markings on the muzzle and legs and also can have some white marks.
This breed’s main profile is still hunting but they are also very good for a family dog. They are good-natured, courageous, enduring dogs but also need a lot of exercise and the first thing you should teach them is to come back, because this breed is very smell-oriented and go after it.
They are very shy with strangers but love dog companions, so socialization is very important for them at a very young age. They are loving partners who follow you everywhere.
If you have any question about the breed, write me. 🙂
