Yep, it is a Bergamasco Shepherd, I was just showing the difference between thin cords and thick, dread-like cords. However, my answer was ultimately implying that they do not just look like that on their own. Sure, the cords form on their own (because its just matting) but in order to get the desired thickness, and allow oxygen to the skin, you have to intervene and pull them apart.
I’m sorry to be that person, but your post about Komondor grooming was not quite correct. The dog in the last picture is likely a Bergermasker which naturally grows different cords like in the picture. Komondors naturally grow cords maybe twice as thick as the showdog’s in the second picture. Usually, you don’t have to handbraid or anything. By petting the dog you’d prevent the cords from sticking together. It’s only important to keep them apart close to the roots, that’s all.
