An ecollar doesn’t guarantee a prompt return. If there are dangers in your area, I would keep her leashed. A vibrating collar could be a good off leash recall tool, they are often used for gun dogs, but they are not safety nets. Even the best trained dogs can choose to ignore you, and in the event of a predator encounter – you want a leash, not an ecollar. Always make sure that your off leash areas are still somewhat secure.
I am buying an ecollar for my dog for when we go to the woods to get an instant call back if we uncounted a predator like a wolf or coyote or if she chases after fowl or deer and she ignores my command, though she normally returns right away. The packaging says to not use it with metallic collars but to pair it with a collar or a harness. My dog pulls heavily on a harness until she runs out of breath so I’d prefer a collar so her tags are there if she doesn’t listen. What do you recommend?
